Thank you letters from heart patient and her family

Xuan Son 2/7/2009

Dear our family’s beloved,

Since we received your help, we haven’t had any chances to talk with you. Today, my daughter and I went to Ha Noi to have her checked. I would like to write a letter to you. First of all, I do not know what to say but to wish your family good health, successful career and I just want to give you my sincere thank to your family for your love towards my daughter. Thanks to your help, my daughter’s heath has improved a lot. Truly, we
do not know what would happen with my daughter if Ms. Hanh did not introduce you to us and we did not meet you, because we cannot afford the treatment for her life-threatening disease. But for your help, our family can have happy smiles. Please let me ask you how many brothers and sisters you have, whether they have got married, whether all of you are healthy, and whether your work is hard. Again I want to say thank you very much for your help. I hope you will drop in our house if you have a chance. I am Nguyen Huu Thach. My wife is Nguyen Thi May. My sons are Nguyen Huu Thao and Nguyen Huu Nhac. My daughter is Nguyen Thi Yen.

Dear my beloved Mom ANNETTA DE VET,

Firstly I would like to wish you and your family good health and happiness. Let me introduce myself. I am Nguyen Thi Yen, 13 years old, a 7th grader. Thank you so much for donating money to my surgery to cure my innate heart disease. I used to be sunk in disease, sorrow, and depression, because I could not hope that one day, my disease could be cured. My family’s financial situation was very limited. My parents were farmers and we possessed only four perches square of paddy field, meanwhile my disease was fatal. At the same time, my parents had to raise my two elder brother
s. My eldest brother was in grade 11 and the other was in grade 9. Therefore, my family situation was really disadvantaged. Everyday, my parents had to get up very early in the morning and stay up very late at night to work. In time of harvest, both of them had to work hard on the farm harvesting and then plucking rice. My brothers also helped my parents with their work. Besides, my brothers hunted crabs and eels to sell to get money to pay for their schooling. We usually had just vegetables and small shrimps for our meals. Once or twice a week, we might have some pork but the whole family left it for me. My parents and two brothers had to work very hard to buy me medicine. Sometimes, in sorrow, I thought I was someone else. I looked so poor with a sad face. I cried silently when I was alone in my house. I cried as if someone stuck a knife to my heart. I cried because of what my family sacrificed for me. Therefore, I wished to have someone donate money so that my disease could be cured, everyday I could share my family’s hard work and when I grow up, I can take care of myself. I could not imagine that my dream could come true. I was so happy that I forgot all sad days. My happiness expanded into my family’s mind. After one week, I went to Bach Mai Hospital. There, doctors took some of my blood and give IV drip to me. A few weeks later, I had the surgery. I was very healthy after that. About one week after the surgery, Ms. Hanh and you came to visit me. Do you remember that there was a photo of my mother, you and me together? Do you know that I always wished to do what I had imagined? Now I can cook for my family. I hope that when I grow up, I will become a doctor to cure patients with heart diseases like me. You are my second mother, who saved me in extremely hard situation. I hope you will read this letter. It is quite late now so I may stop here. I would be very happy if you could visit me the second time I have the surgery. Good bye my beloved mother and your family.
