As an usual, HSCV reviews all families in our sponsorship program annually, with the help of People Committee, today we visited one family with a child named Nguyen Thi Minh Hoan. We really feel sorry since we 1st step on the door, welcome us is an old lady with a big bronchocele and taking us to the house.
Three generations live together in a small house where was severely degraded, the roof leaks whenever it rains and gets flooded very often. Their main income base just from rice crops on 1240m2 of farm land and it equates $30 per a month. This year, they lost for the harvest as the weather was not good and many insects eat the rice since the crop came. We can see not many rice in the yard for drying. The father has health problems since he left the army many years ago. He suffers pulmonary tuberculosis, big liver, and stretch cruel ligament. He also has pre-sbyopic so he is not able to work hard to support the family. He went to hospital for a check up today. The grandmother has a serious bronchocele but she is not able to have a surgery because it can threaten to her life. The main bread - winner in this family is the mother; she has to work very hard on the field and sells vegetables in the local market to support for whole family with six members. The children sometimes work for someone who hires them to make instant raincoats to earn a little money. Their life is very difficult but they are trying their best to maintain daily food and especially to keep 3 children attending school. The first child has to stop schooling at grade 11 and works as a day- laborer for hire and the second child has just been out of school at the grade of 9. The last child is Nguyen Thi Minh Hoan is taking a high risk to drop out of school. Although HSCV is sponsoring the 2 children school fees, even with other supplies for school, the family struggles to make ends meet. The family is really in need of help with rice and scholarship. At this moment, HSCV uses general fund to continue providing a scholarship for Nguyen Thi Minh Hoan. However, if a sponsor is not located, they may be removed from this important program. The Rice Distribution Program goes hand in hand with our Educational Scholarship Program. The additional donation of rice greatly increases the likelihood that a child will remain in school.
The first child wishes to come back school or take a course at any vocational school. The other children wish to be able to continue to go to school. Please help them to safe the children life, giving them a good chance for their better future.
HSCV currently has many families and children in need of sponsorship. You can sponsor a family with a year of rice for only $205 or a child with an education for $50 per year. Please contact us, if you are interested in sponsoring another child.
