In November of 2007 Newsweek posted a story on the lives of the children at the Ba Vi Center for the Handicapped. HSCV happily accepted the task facilitating the donations made for the these children. Please visit Newsweek to see this powerful story photographed by Justin Mott, http://www.newsweek.com/id/72882.
Thanks to donations made to HSCV the children of the Ba Vi Center for the Handicapped lives have been eased. Humanitarian Services for Children of Vietnam (HSCV) worked closely with the Director of the center to decide how to spend the money. When asked what the number one need of the center was Mr. Pham quickly and simply explained their need for convenient access to clean water. He explained to us that the care givers had to walk a long distance each day to collect clean water since the old water system had deteriorated and was unusable. This added to the already overwhelming number difficulties faced when caring for these special children. With the simple donation of water tanks their jobs would become less arduous.
The donations made to (HSCV) allowed us to purchase and install 3 water tanks. The water tanks were delivered and installed on July 3rd, 2008. Two of the tanks required a new stand to be built, while the third replaced an old dilapidated tank. The tanks have been installed in the area where the children with the most difficult needs are located. There are two buildings that house these children. The total cost for 3 water tanks, new stand, and labor came to approximately $1,300.
On behalf of the children, who have been given very little in life, we thank you and are grateful for all donations made.
Any additional donations received will be used to sponsor children with needed surgeries.
Sincerely, The HSCV-Team
The newly built stands and two water tanks. Gravity is used to create water pressure so tanks are elevated. The water will be accessible from inside and outside of the building.
The 3rd tank can be seen on top of the tower in the middle. This tank will service the second section of the center.
