A new change for Hoa

Hoa comes from a poor family in a rice-growing commune in Vinh Quynh, Thanh Tri, Hanoi. Born in 1991, Hoa does not come from a happy family. Since young, she lacks proper guidance and care from her parents who have gone separate ways after their divorce. Whenever she sees other children with their parents, she feels very sad and longs for the love of her own parents. Many times, she cried quietly by herself as she misses her parents dearly. To minimize her longing, she busied herself and filled her time with activities. .Today, she lives with her seventy-year-old grandfather who works as a cyclo driver and supports her school fees and the living expenses of his other grandchildren with his income. Her grandfather’s income fluctuates and averages only about 200.000dong/ month (12USD per month. The old man works hard but the meager amount is hardly enough for his grandchildren. Hoa is a filial grandchild and sympathizes with the hard life of her grandfather.

In 2006, Hoa received her first educational scholarship from HSCV. Her family has been a recipient of the HSCV Rice Distribution Program, a scheme which provides rice rations to needy families. Thanks to the sponsorship from HSCV, Hoa has successfully completed her high school education in 2009. The sponsorship of the post-high school education is a treasured gift. She has promised to study hard in order to find a good job upon her graduation. She hopes to provide her family a better life in the near future. Hoa has passed in the examination of Hoa Sua School and has chosen to study the receptionist branch and will graduate in two years’ time. .

Hoa encountered some difficulties on her first day as a newbie in school and found the new environment and subjects a little overwhelming. Though the initial period was tough, the thought of her grandfather and her wish to provide a better future for him kept her going. She persisted and soon overcame these challenges. Today, she is a conscientious student at school and enjoys learning new things everyday. She has also found some good friends at school. She is currently in her first semester of her course and is working very hard to prepare for her examinations.

She hope that after graduated she can find a job as she studied to help her grandfather and share the burden with him, also she can serve herself.

She thanks the help of sponsors and HSCV and gave her a change that she can have a brighter future and escape the poverty.
