Dear Max Gold,

The first of all, I hope you in good health. I wish you all of the best things in your life and career.

Perhaps, you knew my circumstance because Mrs Hanh told you before. So, I will not tell to you about me more. You know how happy I am when learn there is a foreigner pay attention to my life. I was moved to tears. Those are the tears of the happiness and the gratefulness.

I am really touched because there is a person living in a far country and being difference from skin color and language helping me both material and spirit. Thank you so much for your help. Your help brings to me a lot of joy and encouragement.

I was in misery from the marital status and no longtime ago an accident takes my legs away. I extremely suffered the pain during five times for the surgeries. I was in the decline of spirit and seem to be in despair seriously. However, I tried to live better due to my family and me too. I think there are a lot of people are living in unluckiness than me. I will overcome myself to live usefully.

In September, you came to Viet Nam. I looked forward to visiting from you, what a pity as you was busy and we could make it happen. I feel a little sad because I wish a time meet you who help me so much when I am in sorrow. I want to meet you just to say thanks to you.

In the moment, I need an encouragement of someone to continue step by step in the life in spire of broken legs and replaced by artificial legs.

Today, I receive 200$ that you sponsor me. That is a mount of money helping me very much to pay for daily bread because I became the handicapped and am not capacity to bring up myself any more.

Although I have never met you before, I think you are very sympathetic, good – hearted. I believe that you will be lucky in the life. God bless you as all of thing you do.

I don’t have brother. So, I would like you to become my friend or my bother if you agree. I want to share my feeling with you in the life. I can listen to too. So, if you want, I am really sharing your story with you.

You come to Viet Nam occasionally, I hope that you will pay visit to me. My house is small but I always welcome you with a broad heart. If you don’t mind, can you send your photo to me? I really want to know about you at least in the photos because in my deep heart, you are a benefactor. Your photo will become a invaluable present that I will keep it as a memory.

I wish having a café bar. However, that is only a dream due to it is beyond my ability. In the short term, I need to recover my health and I will try my best to practice move with a couple of artificial legs. The other things I will carry out later when I have a stable life.

I will sign off now because the letter is quite long. One time again, I hope you in good health, happiness and success.

As I don’t know English, I have to ask for Mrs Hanh’ s help to translate my letter to you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Giang Vu Tra

For only $500 you can sponsor HSCV's distribution of a container of 550 wheelchairs. This is less than $1 per wheelchair. HSCV receives our wheelchairs from Free Wheelchair Mission. They cover all expenses until the container reaches Vietnam. At that point HSCV works with a local partner to distribute the chairs. $500 will allow us to oversee the distribution of one container.
