Story from the Class of Success

Our students in the HSCV Class of Success 01 have just finished the first school year, (2008 – 2009). Some of the students have started their summer vacation, while others are still working on the end of semester examinations. After a school year, each of the students finds their own way to improve their study habits and demonstrate the progress they’ve made. Our students work hard to get the best results so they can show their deep gratitude to their sponsors and to honor HSCV for giving them this chance.

Here is the year-end update of Duy Anh — one of our HSCV scholars in her first school year.
Duy Anh has just finished the second semester of her first school year at the Economic and Industrial Technology University. Compared to the first semester, she’s become accustomed to the teaching style of the university lecturers. Although this semester’s subjects were more difficult than last semester, she was able to learn the course material. Last April, she had to research and read about the subject of accounting. She also was given a chance to actually practice accounting on account books in order to understand this subject better. Duy Anh says that she learned a lot from this practice!

During this second semester, Duy Anh still had some difficulty getting to school because of the distance from her house to school, 12km (over 7 miles) each way! Sometimes she goes by bus, but the bus take a long time, so she prefers to ride her bicycle. However, in the rainy season she no choice but to take the bus. Thankfully her scholarship from HSCV pays the bus fee. Despite her difficulties, she always tries to overcome any obstacles, and still goes to school regularly and continues to attend all her classes.

As for the results of her second term, Duy Anh worked hard and passed all her exams with the good marks. She was happy to inform us at HSCV that as a result of her hard work studying, her second term average grade is 6,87 which is a little higher than the grade 6,70 she got in the first term.

Duy Anh will start her summer holiday from June 20th to the 2nd of August. During this vacation, she plans to find work. She also will set aside time to read and learn in advance about computing that she will have as a subject when she returns next semester.

As previously mentioned, Duy Anh will start her next term on the 2nd of August, after her vacation. She will begin to study specialized subjects in accounting during the second year, and will also have some more internship opportunities to gain practical experience. Duy Anh has one more year left to finish her accounting course at the school.

HSCV is now in the process of interviewing candidates for the Class of Success 02. A majority of these students are graduates from our Educational Scholarships Program, which sponsors children through the 12 grade. Each child’s sponsorship will catered towards each child’s interests and abilities. These children have been invited to apply various College and Vocational schools of their choice. Once accepted HSCV will provide each student with a scholarship tailored to their needs. Each student will receive funding as needed for items such as; tuition, supplies, housing, and transportation costs. You can sponsor this class of $250. Visit our website at
