Van Anh Update

As you may know Van Anh is a special child for everyone at HSCV. We have been working with her for at least 5 years. Last year, after all other options failed, Van Anh had her right leg amputated above her knee. She has since received physical therapy and a prosthetic leg and is now able to get around on her own.

This week Van Anh contacted HSCV asking us to help her with a wish. Van Anh would like to go back to school to study English and Computers. We were thrilled to have received her request. It’s easy to see that education is the key to Van Anh’s future, but this is something she needed see for herself. After a few months of being at home she realized that there is a world outside her door and she is ready to greet it.

Here is HSCV Team Member Chau’s report –

This morning I visited Van Anh at her home. She was very happy seeing me. She can walk very well with her prosthetic leg. She showed me that she can walk around her home and the front yard. I have her photos attached with this email.

I spoke with her about studying English and computers, she said that she would very happy to go back to school because at the moment she has nothing to do and is very bored.

With studying computer, she can learn at a center near her home and about English, if HSCV can sponsor for her to study at a Language center that would be great. She would have a good chance to practice English with her classmates and the teachers as well. However, her family has only one motorbike and that her mother uses for going to the market selling fish everyday. So her father said that if HSCV can sponsor for her "Xe om" fee to travel to the English Center every time that would be good for her.

If HSCV will sponsor for her to study English, please let me know when and where she will start and then I will let her know.

Thank you,
Chau

We hope HSCV will be able to find the right schools for Van Anh soon. If you would like to support Van Anh’s wish please send your donation today.

We will keep you posted on Van Anh’s progress.
