Cathay Pacfic comes through

It was a great ending to a long week at HSCV. At 4 pm on Friday we received a phone call from Max at Cathay Pacific Ha Noi's office. A few weeks ago I sent a request for Airline tickets for Thao and her Father.
This is the first time Cathay Pacific has granted such a donation and they are pleased to sponsor Thao and her father. This in affect will save HSCV around $3000 USD. It's a great step in our efforts to help Thao.
We are still struggling to find translator(s) and a host family in the Sacramento area. If know of anyone who may be willing to help or anyone may know someone please send me any email.
Ideally we would like to send Thao to the States as early as August. We just need some help with making the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.

Thao at age 10

This is Thao 5 years after the fire. As you can see her hands a face have been badly damaged.

Helping Thao

Make a difference
When Thao was 5 years-old she was caught in a terrible fire. No one in the village knew Thao was in the fire, until she came crawling out. The fire was very intense and Thao suffered burns on over 50% of her body. Her face, scalp, hands and backside were all badly burned. She lost all of her fingers and half of her thumb on her right hand. Her left hand is so badly injured that the fingers and wrist are frozen with scarring. Thao was rushed several hours to Ha Noi to receive emergency burn treatment. For the next several months she remained in Ha Noi. However, the burns became very infected and Thao was in a lot of pain. When the family returned to their country-side home she was treated with eastern medicines and the infections finally began to heal. When Thao was 7 her mother moved to Taiwan in search of better employment. Today she is able to send home some money to help pay for Thao's mounting medical bills. She has only been able to visit her family only once since 2004. Thao is now 10. Despite her difficulties she remains a good student. She can write by holding pen between her scarred fingers and she can use her thumb to grab things. She tires very hard at everything she does.
Recently Thao has been approved for treatment by the Shiners Hospital in Sacramento California . For up to twelve months Thao will undergo multiple surgeries and treatments. We are currently seeking sponsorship for Thao's and her father's trip to the States.Today we are seeking:Airfare for her and her father A host family Translator(s) that can attended all doctors visits and are available over the phone Monitory donations to help assist with daily living and transportation costs while in the StatesIf you can help or know someone who can help please contact Annetta De Vet at annettadevet@hscv.org. The sooner we can find sponsorship the sooner we can begin to help Thao. Thao is a courageous girl with a wonderful spirit. She deserves a first chance at life. Please help us give it to her.
